The History of our Property
This project took on a special meaning to us with its historical significance. This property originally traces its origins back to 1926 when C. G. Foye founded it as the Steele Tourist Camp, known as one of the first of its kind. Through its evolution as a campground into a small motel and lodging business, this property was home to the longest-running family business in Steele, ND.
Many may recall this property as the old OK Motel and OK Motel Laundromat, a name it held since the mid-1960s. In September 2022, my husband and I purchased the property from its previous owner. With a leap of faith and determination, we embarked on a journey that proved to be nothing short of a challenge.
This was a huge renovation to take on but the result has exceeded our expectations. We are so happy to have restored this property and to provide a service to the community once again.
Amenities
At Nineteen26 Campground & Lodging we offer a diverse range of accommodations for individuals, families, hunters, and wedding guests. Whether you're looking for a short overnight stay or a longer visit of up to 30 days, we've got you covered. Our seven rooms feature fully equipped kitchens and sleeping arrangements to accommodate four to six guests.
Looking for something larger to accommodate a group? Check out the Farmhouse! Located on the same property, it features a full kitchen, a spacious living area, three bedrooms, a large bathroom, and a patio area. It's the perfect choice for family gatherings or larger groups of hunters.
Suites 1 and 5 are pet-friendly, allowing up to two dogs. They must be crated while in the room. Please inquire about our pet policy before booking.
How is our Lodging Experience Different From a Typical Hotel?
Nineteen26 Campground & Lodging operates as an Airbnb-style lodging establishment, serving a diverse clientele. Our guests range from those attending family reunions, weddings, and special events to hunters exploring the area.
Six of the eight lodging units we offer are equipped with full kitchens, complete with essential appliances.
One of our standout features is the contactless check-in through our keypad entry system. All door locks are Wi-Fi connected, ensuring a smooth and convenient entry for guests into their rooms.
Our property also offers a 12-unit campground with 30/50 amp power and water hookups. A public RV dump site is located on the south end of the property. Additionally, guests can take advantage of our fully equipped bird cleaning station, making your stay even more convenient.
